ACKERMAN, FORREST J.: Lot of 6 inscribed items

$125.00

| /

In 2019 while living in Colorado I was contacted by a bookseller that he had a small lot of pulps and assorted books to sell.

After the purchase I noticed two things:
1. Most of the older pulps contained a stories by Roman Frederick Starzl.
2. Four books and two pulps contained inscriptions by Forrest J. Ackerman.
Two inscriptions contained a curious name, '☆zl' and '☆zl of the A-Toms'.

I believe that ☆zl is Thomas F. Starzl, grandson of Roman Frederick Starzl a pulp writer in the 1920's and mid 1930's.
This may account for the number of pulps containing R. F. Starzl stories.
I also believe that the lot was purchased by the bookseller from someone of Thomas F. Starzl's family in Boulder, CO.
I was unable to verify this from the bookseller as he would not tell me who he had bought them from.
Nor was I able to verify this with Thomas F. Starzl as he had passed in 2016.
It is my understanding that Thomas F. Starzl was a fan of science fiction (Pioneers of Wonder, footnote 12, pg. 268) and probably obtained Ackerman's signature/inscriptions at a convention.
Undoubtedly, Ackerman knew Roman F. Starzl's work.
